Wow, Second Post This Month

I am on a roll. To say that it is crazy in GSB Admissions would be an understatement and would not even come close to describing this semester thus far. Let's recap:

January 15 was the PhD application deadline. I haven't done my official numbers yet but a quick and dirty count shows we received about 200 applications (a slight increase from the 186 from last year).

February 1 was the MIS deadline. We received about 80 applications (up from 68). Offers have gone out and we are waiting for student responses.

The MAcc deadline was March 1. Decisions just went out this week. This program saw a significant increase in applications. Last year, a total of 118 applications were received. We have received about 150 total this year.

Early decision deadline for both of our MBA programs (full-MBA and part-time-MMBA) is April 1. Those who wish to be eligible for funding in the full-time program must submit all application materials by April 16. Application requirements can be found at http://gsb.uark.edu/admissions.asp. The committee is meeting April 20th.

Final deadline for MMBA is July 1. Orientation is August 2-5 and is mandatory. This program starts each August.

Final deadline for MBA is September 15. This program only starts in January.

Please email any questions to gsb@walton.uark.edu.

Aside from assisting with the processing of applications, I have also done a little recruiting. No rest for the wicked, right? I have one more campus visit to make this semester. Next week I will be at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. I am also going on a recruiting trip to Panama next month. Walton will be starting an MBA program in Panama later this year.

Commencement is May 12th - just 6 weeks away. I can't believe it. The next few weeks will surely fly by.

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth although right now, it sure does feel like I am about to. I have been the world's worst blogger lately. I can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I am quite ashamed of myself. So...let's catch up.

My last post provided my February travel schedule. My March travels looked like this:

March 1 - Career Fair - UofA
March 6 - MMBA Information Session at the AR World Trade Center in Rogers
March 7 - Career Fair - Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK
March 8 - Career Fair - Philander Smith
March 13 - Corporate Visit - Arkansas Best (ABF and Datatronics)
March 13 - Campus Visit - University of Arkansas, Fort Smith

Next week is Spring Break at the University. I plan on taking the week off. I am a bit travel weary. In April, I'll be doing the following:

April 4 - Career Fair - University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff
April 11-15 - Recruiting trip to Panama (as in the country, not the beach in Florida)
April 25-27 - NAGAP in Austin.

Amidst all of this travel, the GSB has had a few application deadlines. February 1 was MIS and March 1 was MAcc. As soon as everything is finalized, I'll post numbers (applications, enrolled, average GMAT, etc.).

April 1 is the early decision deadline for MBA and MMBA. THOSE APPLICANTS FOR MBA WHO ARE WANTING TO APPLY FOR FUNDING MUST APPLY BY THIS DATE! Application requirements can be found at http://gsb.uark.edu/admissions.asp.

The Spring Social was held last month. We had a fantastic turnout, the most ever. This event is for prospective students to mix and mingle with our current students, alumni, and faculty. Our next event will be in July. More details to come.

Before we know it, the semester will be over. Commencement is May 12.

EXCITING NEWS: US NEWS & WORLD REPORT HAS JUST RELEASED THEIR NEW RANKINGS. BOTH PROGRAMS (FULL AND PART-TIME MBA) ARE RANKED #25 AMONG PUBLIC MBA PROGRAMS!

THE WALTON MBA IS #2, OVERALL, IN EMPLOYMENT AT GRADUATION.
