Walton MBAs Cooked It Up In Rice

Okay, corny title but I couldn't resist. We had two teams compete in the Rice University small business plan competition last weekend. WE WON! For full details, visit http://www.alliance.rice.edu/alliance/RBPC.asp?SnID=333809435 and we were even featured in the NYTimes http://boss.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/20/rbpc2010/?src=busln. A second University of Arkansas team, InnerVision won the NASA Earth/Science Engineering Innovation Prize of $20,000, along with $1,500 for advancing to the semi-finals where they come in fourth. The full story can be found at http://newswire.uark.edu/article.aspx?id=13977.

On Monday we traveled to Little Rock to learn the results of the Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup - another small-business plan competition. Walton teams swept the graduate division winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Read the details at http://newswire.uark.edu/article.aspx?id=13978. The top two teams will now advance to Las Vegas for a tri-state competition.

I just tried to upload pictures of the winners and it didn't work. I'll try again later.

I am in San Francisco for a conference. The conference starts later today but I am going to try to get down to Fisherman's Wharf first. If I can get the pictures to upload later, I'll share what I've been up to. I arrived yesterday afternoon and ate dinner at John's Grill, made famous in the Maltese Falcon. It was really good. My time is limited so I need to get back out to see the sights. I have never been to San Fran before. More later.
